Materials: Parts for the Exterior were manufactured primarily out of 6061-T6 aluminum, an alloy commonly used in the Aviation industry. Provides good durability and machinability along with corrosion resistance. Weight was also a factor.
Parts were machined primarily via lathe to a high tolerance to ensure parts mating correctly and surface finish to ensure free spinning of the interior turret.
Interior housing was largely 3D printed using ABS.
Circuitry was designed and soldered with assitance from the EE department. Special thanks to Geena Wilkerson (EET CWU).
